My research focuses on the twentieth century history of scientific racial conceptions with a regional focus on Latin America and the Global South. Through my research I address fundamental issues raised by global histories of science: how scientific conceptions of human diversity are assembled and contested and how the category of race has simultaneously served as stimulus and deterrent to the circulation of knowledge. My research interests are thus situated at the intersection of various fields including: the history and philosophy of the human sciences, race and ethnicity studies, postcolonial studies of science, Latin American history, French historical studies, and international history.
